The Arden Youth Choir is a growing girls’ choir and we are on the look-out for new talent to join the ranks!
You don’t need to have an extensive singing background, but be able to sing to a reasonable standard, be enthusiastic and be a girl aged 10 – 18yrs. You will need to be able to attend the majority of our scheduled weekly evening rehearsals, and be available for most of our performance opportunities throughout the year.
Rehearsals are held every Wednesday between 6.00pm and 7.30pm at Christ Church, Carr Road, Nelson, Lancashire.
The rewards for this commitment are great. The Arden Youth Choir (Arden Angels) offers a varied repertoire that is both challenging and enjoyable. The social life of the choir is also very important, in order to create the vibrant team environment that allows us to sing, blend and express ourselves as a group. Prospective new singers are invited to an informal audition prior to being asked to join the choir. At the audition, prospective singers would be expected to perform a short pre-prepared piece.
If you are interested in joining The Arden Youth Choir and becoming an “Arden Angel”, please fill in the ‘contact us’ form with your name, contact details, age, and brief singing/musical history. We will then get in touch with you to arrange an audition.
The Arden's Little Angels is a brand new venture starting in September 2012. The Little Angels is a 50 strong choir from school years 3 to 7 that will support the Arden Angels throughout the year, but especially at Christmas and Summer shows.
The musical team consists of Diane Howarth (conductor), June Melling (accompanist) and Jon Hoyle (accompanist) Auditions to become a Little Angel are held once or twice a year.
If you are interested in becoming a little angel, please fill in the form on our contact page.
Running a choir is never easy, and with costs of venue hire, accompanist fees, insurance, music, stationery and many others constantly increasing it is becoming ever harder. It is for this reason that we have started asking for patron support of people in and around the area. Please consider becoming a patron and getting involved in the life of the Choir. Our ambition has always been to make the highest quality music from an innovative and eclectic repertoire, and the support you give will help us do this and more!
The annual subscription to become a patron or "Guardian Angel" as we like to call it, is £10 per person or £15 per couple. For this, you will receive a car sticker, and you'll be first to know any news and information about the choir. If you are a business and would like to become a patron, the cost is £50 per annum and we will advertise your companies logo on our display board at concerts and also, our website and programmes. Our patrons support the choir by coming to the concerts and bringing their friends and family. Their support is a aknowledged on our programmes and website unless otherwise requested. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested.
